Professor Paula Jarzabkowski’s opinion piece entitled “From risk transfer to risk sharing – How systemic risks are changing the relationship between risk, responsibility and reward, and the need for greater risk sharing” was published in the recent Pool Re’s SOLUTIONS Annual Review 2020.
In her article, Professor Jarzabkowski considers how the increasing prevalence of systemic risk threatens traditional models of risk transfer, and whether a new approach to managing these is now required. She argues that “because climate change and other systemic risks, such as pandemic, are changing the relationship between risk, responsibility and reward on which the risk transfer process is based, we need to shift the paradigm to one of risk sharing.”
